About this tour
Le Marais Walking Tour
Le Marais is the most layered, most historically complex, and most delicious neighbourhood in Paris — and the one most visitors see the least of. This tour explores the full depth of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements: medieval architecture, the extraordinary Place des Vosges, the oldest Jewish street in Paris, hidden courtyards, and the best falafels in the city.
The Marais has been simultaneously the Jewish quarter, the royal quarter, the aristocratic quarter, and most recently the cultural centre of Paris. Each layer is still visible in the architecture, the street names, and the people who live here. This tour makes sense of all of it — through stories, walks, and stops at the most extraordinary addresses.
