The Louvre is the world's largest and most visited art museum — 72,735 square metres of galleries housing over 38,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of human civilisation. From the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo to the Winged Victory of Samothrace and Vermeer's The Lacemaker, the collection is simply overwhelming in its depth and quality.

Skip-the-line tickets let you enter via the reserved entrance and go directly inside, bypassing the famous pyramid queue that can take up to two hours in high season. Give yourself at least three hours — a full day if you want to see everything. Finish with a picnic in the adjacent Tuileries gardens.
